GAIA Taxi

Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-08-22

These terms govern your use of GAIA Taxi as a rider or as a driver. Please read them before booking or accepting rides.

Version 2026-08-22

1. Who the parties are

GAIA Taxi ("the platform", "we") operates a technology platform that connects riders with independent, licensed drivers. We are not a transport carrier and we do not employ drivers.

The transport contract for each ride is between the rider and the driver who accepts that ride. The platform provides booking, dispatch, pricing, payment collection and support services.

2. Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information to hold an account. You are responsible for everything done under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.

We may suspend or close an account that is used fraudulently, unsafely, or in breach of these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us.

3. Rider obligations

Be at the pickup point at the agreed time, treat the driver and the vehicle with respect, wear a seatbelt, and follow local law throughout the ride.

You are responsible for items you leave in a vehicle, for damage or excessive soiling you cause, and for any cleaning fee charged as a result.

Do not ask a driver to break traffic law, exceed the licensed passenger capacity, or transport prohibited goods.

4. Driver obligations

Drivers must hold and maintain a valid driving licence, private-hire or taxi licence where required, vehicle insurance covering paid passenger transport, and a roadworthy vehicle matching the details registered on the platform.

Drivers must keep documents current, complete identity re-checks when asked, accept and complete rides in good faith, and never let another person drive under their account.

Drivers act as independent contractors. Nothing in these terms creates an employment relationship with the platform.

5. Fares, surcharges and cancellations

Fares are calculated by the platform from the ride tier, distance, duration, applicable surcharges (airport, waiting time, additional stops, demand) and taxes for the market where the ride takes place. Estimates shown before booking are indicative; the final fare is confirmed at the end of the ride.

Cancellation fees apply when a ride is cancelled after the free-cancellation window shown at booking, or when a driver waits beyond the included waiting time. Part of a cancellation fee is passed to the driver as compensation.

Where a ride is scheduled in advance, changes and cancellations follow the same rules from the scheduled pickup time.

6. Payments and payouts

Riders pay through the platform's payment provider. All amounts are calculated server-side; no price supplied by a browser or app is trusted. Receipts show the fare, surcharges, discounts, taxes, tip and payment reference.

Drivers receive their earnings net of the platform commission and applicable taxes, paid to their connected payout account on the schedule they select. Payout statements show every trip in a batch.

Refunds, adjustments and disputed charges are handled through in-app support and, where a payment provider or card scheme process applies, through that process.

7. Safety

The app provides an emergency (SOS) control, emergency contacts, trip sharing and incident reporting. These are support features and are not a substitute for the emergency services — in an emergency, call your local emergency number first.

We may share ride and location data with emergency services or law enforcement where necessary to protect life or comply with a lawful request.

8. Ratings and conduct

Riders and drivers may rate each other after a ride. Persistent low ratings, abusive behaviour, discrimination, harassment or unsafe conduct can lead to removal from the platform.

9. Liability

We provide the platform with reasonable skill and care but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, an available driver at any given moment, or the accuracy of third-party map, traffic or flight data.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our aggregate liability for a ride is limited to the amount paid for that ride.

10. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; material changes are notified in the app before they take effect and continued use constitutes acceptance. Each version is dated and kept on this page.

These terms are governed by the law of the market in which the ride is provided, and disputes may be brought in the courts of that market.

11. Contact

Reach us through in-app Support for anything about a ride, a receipt, a payout or your account. Support tickets are answered in the language you write in.
